Josiah is treated pretty decent, compared to many other prisoners across the colony in Australia.

The other convicts were not treated very well. They did not have much protection from all of the new diseases.

He described the natives as "blacks", and they were dirty, indolent and naked.

I think i would be in shock that i had left my country, I would have probably tried to make some friends so that my time there would not be so harsh. I would also maybe kinda enjoy the warm climate, because i came from the somehow cold England. I would also use my time to think about my family and friends at home.
